THE HOUSING LAW REACHES CONGRESS

THE HOUSING LAW REACHES CONGRESS

REAL ESTATE, NEXUS GROUP, INFORMS.

The coalition government will face another close vote in the Congress of Deputies in the coming days, this time with one of its "star" initiatives, the Bill for the Right to Housing, approved on February 1. A regulation highly criticized by the Real Estate sector and that includes measures such as the regulation of the rental price in stressed areas.

To that appointment, which the Board of Spokespersons of Congress has set for Thursday, March 10, the Government starts with the rejection of, at least, 167 votes, to nine of the absolute majority, of formations that will try to prevent the processing of the draft.

And it is that the PP (88 votes), Ciudadanos (9), the PNV (6), the PDeCAT (49) AND JUNTS (4) have registered amendments to the totality to defend the return of the initiative, and it is foreseeable that They are joined by Vox (52), Foro Asturias (1), the two former UPN deputies, and the former Cs deputy Pablo Cabronero.

Esquerra Republicana, for its part, has registered an amendment to the entirety, although in its case the proposal is to replace the law proposed by the Executive with a text that has a greater impact on measures such as the regulation of rental prices, anti-eviction regulations and some Ibi surcharges for empty housing.

Specifically, the ERC proposal eliminates any planning regulation due to a possible conflict of jurisdiction, guarantees the suspension of an eviction if there is no prior proposal for social rental and equates the regulation of rental prices to that existing in Catalonia, respecting regional competition.

Next Thursday there will be two votes, one on the alternative text of ERC, which will not go ahead due to lack of support, and another on the other amendments, and if there the 13 votes of Esquerra are added to those who ask to return the project to the Government, the PSOE and United We Can law will have fallen down in plenary.

There are many criticisms that the different political formations are making of the regulations, despite the fact that the Executive insists that it is rigorous and neither attacks private property nor conflicts with housing powers, which are in the hands of the autonomies.
